NORTHERN MINDANAO – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Region 10 signed a memorandum of agreement on September 19 for a collaboration through the RESTART Project on capacity building for BJMP’s Livelihood Program Officers and support to the rehabilitation and reintegration efforts of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

Per MOA, experts and resources in the conduct of capacity building programs will be provided by DTI-10. The programs will focus on product development training, training of trainers for entrepreneurship, e-commerce, and consumer education.

DTI-10 will also collaborate with BJMP-10 to develop specialized capacity building programs for PDLs to enhance their employability and skills.

DTI-10 Regional Director Ermedio J. Abang said that the MOA signing reflects the shared commitment between DTI and BJMP to achieve a common goal of building an inclusive and prosperous economy.

“Through this MOA and launching of the RESTART project, we institutionalize our support to equip PDLs with relevant skills and knowledge and foster their employability, enabling them to contribute to the community’s social and economic growth.”

BJMP-10 Regional Director, Jail Chief Superintendent Cesar M. Langawin, also expressed his gratitude to DTI for the collaboration.

The DTI-10 and BJMP-10 MOA Signing and RESTART Project Launching was held in the BJMP Regional Office 10 in Cagayan de Oro City.♦
