NUEVA VIZCAYA, PHILIPPINES — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Nueva Vizcaya celebrated the launch of the Mun-Abol Capisaan Weaving Center in its effort to revitalize indigenous peoples (IP) culture and creative industry of the municipality of Kasibu, particularly in loom weaving on 03 May 2024.

Together with Provincial Director Atty. Michael Paggabao and the Alayan Pagasa Abot Palad Association, the said facility was constructed with funding assistance  by the OceanaGold Philippines, Inc. – Didipio Mine, through their Corporate Social Responsibility program, specifically the IP Revitalization Program.

Aside from being a beneficiary of the DTI’s Shared Service Facility Program, the Alayan Pagasa Abot Palad Association is also being assisted by the DTI, Didipio Mine, LGU Kasibu, and the BLGU Capisaan through the Project MUN-ABOL (Maximizing network and Unveiling Natural talents thru Acceleration of Business Opportunities and Livelihood).

Provincial Director Paggabao reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to assisting the loom weaving sector to achieve the recognition it deserves.

Through this activity, Provincial Director Paggabao was able to meet some of the municipality and barangay’s local officials led by Vice Mayor Alberto Bumolo Jr. He was also able to interact with the members of the said group to assess their current needs and on how the agency can help. Moreover, he also highlighted the upcoming “Nueva Vizcaya goes to Alabang Provincial Trade Fair” which will include a fashion show showcasing the crafts of the group.

The team gathered samples of the association’s crafts which will be exhibited and used as booth decoration at the 2024 International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines on 10-12 May 2024.

Aside from unveiling their new haven, the Alayan Pagasa Abot Palad Association also showcased their new designs that included citrus patterns and the colors of both the town of Kasibu and the province of Nueva Vizcaya. ♦
