NORTHERN MINDANAO – Negosyo Center Business Counselors of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10 underwent training on the use of GeoRiskPH Platforms.

The training course is designed for DTI to effectively understand and use GeoMapperPH to update and geotag DTI’s MSME data and to familiarize other GeoRiskPH platforms as tools for a more efficient hazards and risk assessment, data collection, data sharing, and analysis in support of data-informed planning and decision-making.

The training is one of DTI’s efforts in intensifying the campaign to strengthen MSME disaster resilience. By onboarding the MSMEs to the GeoRiskPH, DTI can determine disaster risks to specific locations that are susceptible to floods, earthquakes, drought, tsunami, etc.

The capability to pinpoint exact geographic locations of businesses can help DTI streamline and optimize emergency response efforts and facilitate a thorough risk assessment in order to draw a tailored preparedness strategy that is specific to the vulnerability of an MSME.

The training was conducted by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS).♦
