SANTA CRUZ, LAGUNA — In conjunction with the MSME Development Program Orientation of the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) Business Development Division, the Consumer Protection Division of DTI-Laguna conducted its first Consumer Education activity for the year 2023 on February 7, 2023, via Zoom online platform. More than 30 micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) owners and/or employees participated in the abovementioned webinar.
The Head of Consumer Education and Advocacy Section, Trade-Industry Development Specialist (TIDS) Marites V. Pantua, discussed Consumer Rights and Responsibilities. Specifically, she enumerated the eight consumer rights, namely: Right to Basic Needs, Right to Safety, Right to Information, Right to Choose, Right to Representation, Right to Redress, Right to Consumer Education, and Right to a Healthy Environment.
Furthermore, TIDS MVPantua highlighted that consumers have responsibilities to practice, such as: Critical Awareness, Action, Social Concern, Environmental Awareness, and Solidarity. TIDS MVPantua concluded her discussion with a list of other government agencies and their areas of jurisdiction in handling consumer complaints. ♦
