MABITAC, LAGUNA — To have a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing programs, activities, and services closer to the countryside, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) conducted the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) – Livelihood Seeding Program (LSP) at the Agarao Covered Court, Brgy. Nanguma, Mabitac, Laguna, on September 2, 2020. A capability building seminar for the fifty-eight (58) Barangay Officials and Barangay Development Council Members for the six (6) identified barangays such as Nanguma, Matalatala, Libis ng Nayon, San Miguel, San Antonio, and Lucong in Mabitac, Laguna, was facilitated.  

Furthermore, NSB Desk signages and four hundred eighty (480) NSB information kits (information materials and brochures on MSME Development and Consumer Protection) were issued to the said barangays so as to start the operation of the NSB Desk in their respective barangays. 

The following topics were discussed: DTI Programs and Services, How to Setup Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay Desk, and How to Start a Business. 

This program aims to provide package of livelihood kits and business advisory assistance and services to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by natural and human-induced calamities including health disasters like the coronavirus disease. 

Coincided with this NSB – LSP, a Consumer Education and Advocacy Initiative was also conducted where DTI-Laguna discussed the Basic Consumer Rights and Responsibilities and the Salient Features of the Consumer Act of the Philippines. ♦
