A total of 333 households have already benefitted from the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Diskwento Caravans in the province of Marinduque.
Diskwento Caravan is a DTI initiative that aims to provide easy access to low-priced basic and prime commodities to the public especially those outside the center of commerce. It already generated a total sales of PHP630,007.25 out of the 3 runs conducted in partnership with Puregold Marinduque.
The Diskwento Caravan run held last March 16 in Malibago, Torrijos benefitted 134 households, while 103 households in Napo, Sta. Cruz on 15 May 2022, and 96 households in Daykitin, Buenavista last 5 June 2022. A total of 23 barangays were reached during the conduct of the said caravans.
As an extra treat to the buyers, while promoting sustainability, they were provided with free upcycled tote bags for every purchase from the caravan. These tote bags are made by Marinduque Bagong Lipunan Samahan ng May Kapansanan (MABALISAKA), a group of person-with-disability (PWD) assisted by DTI Marinduque. Consumers were able to purchase low-priced bread, canned sardines, canned meat, instant noodles, bottled water, condiments (vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce), coffee, powdered milk, etc. ♦
