After the meeting with the Sangguniang Barangay last 5 July 2021, Negosyo Center-Tayabas Business Counselor Shaira Anne Budoy and Elsa Rubio of Philippine Chamber of Commerce, Inc.–Quezon attended the monthly meeting of KALIPI, a federation of women’s organization in Tayabas, with Barangay Councilor Marylo G. Tabi and the KALIPI Tayabas Chapter President to disseminate programs to further capacitate and empower the members through livelihood and government assistance. With aspirations of this association to form into a cooperative, Budoy invited the Tayabas Cooperative Development Office to also attend the meeting.

Budoy explained the services of the Negosyo Center, as well as the previous tie-ups with KALIPI with past president Tessie Abrigo, notably the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) Project and trainings related to it. She also discussed the Industry Enhancement Cluster (ICE) as Brgy. Mateuna is one of the centers of the garments industry in the country. And with regards to cooperatives, she mentioned the assistance to cooperatives in partnership with the Tayabas Cooperative Development Office that helps members of cooperatives through Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB).

Elsa Rubio talked about the advocacy and partnership of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (PCCI) with the Deparmtent of Trade and Industry (DTI). She discussed briefly about being humble and responsible leaders for their respective barangays.

City Cooperatives Officer Gener Abordo also held a short cooperative orientation and informed the participants about the advantages and benefits of forming a cooperative. His office’ advocacy is to assist and capacitate the cooperative members of Tayabas City. Through this meeting, the association expressed interest in holding a coooperative pre-registration seminar. ♦
