In light of the Consumer Welfare Month Celebration, the Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Trade and Industry Region 2, in collaboration with its Consumer Net Members, successfully conducted its simultaneous monitoring of various establishments, public markets, supermarkets, and groceries in Tuguegarao City on 25 October 2022.

The team held its pre-deployment briefing to discuss the itinerary and functions of each member, together with Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting Que, at the DTI Region 2 Negosyo Center Building. Topic highlights focused on its objective, date of implementation, participants, location and focus establishment, methodology, and resources needed for program activity.

The simultaneous monitoring is carried out to ensure that business establishments comply with government regulations and to demonstrate to the public the government’s collaborative efforts to protect the public’s welfare in general.

A total of 53 establishments were monitored, adding 19 confiscated unregistered and defective weighing scales by the Local Government Unit.

The activity was attended by members of the Consumer Net, namely: PHIC, DA, DepEd, DOLE, PNP, PIA, NMIS, FDA, DENR, NBI, NFA, and BFAR. ♦
