Various fresh produce vegetables on the stand with price and label

The Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Region 2 held the first-ever online Grand Bagsakan in partnership with Mayani.ph helping farmers sell 54 tons of fresh produce worth P600,732. Among the farmers and the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) assisted were from the Federation of Farmers Onion, Garlic and Ginger Growers (FAFOGGA), Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal Inc., and smallholder farmers from Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and some rebel returnees who are being assisted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

These smallholder farmers have an average lot size of less than two hectares so they face challenges in agricultural productivity, economies of scale, and market access. Through the Mayani digital platform, 1,167 of these smallholder farmers joined the Grand Bagsakan.

Aimed at ensuring the continuous supply of food and essential products while supporting the domestic economy, the initiative continues to help farmers, MSMEs, and consumers. Eighty-seven percent or P520,232 of sales were generated from online pre-orders while walk-in customers accounted for  P80,500 sales.  Mayani CEO and co-founder, JT Solis, hopes to increase sales given the extended quarantine status.

Aside from fresh produce, processed products such as garlic longganisa, longganisa bits in oil, chili garlic or garlic bits in oil, calamansi honey concentrate, mushroom chips, muscovado sugar, baked peanuts, and tomato chewies were sold.

Another Online Grand Bagsakan will be held on 23 April. Only pre-orders will be accepted until 21 April, 12 noon for delivery on 23 April. Mayani will only accept Gcash payments. To shop, visit https://cutt.ly/BAGSAKAN
