The 6th participation of Philippine HIMS companies at the HIMSS Global Conference and Exhibition (HIMSS) 2023 reported initial sales amounting to US$ 72.9 million (inclusive of closed deals, contracts under negotiation, potential sales to be nurtured) plus additional potential direct investment amounting to US$ 13.0 million,  during the trade and investment roadshow in Texas and  New York and HIMSS exhibition held on 17-21 April 2023 at the McCormick Convention Center, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The Philippine National Pavilion showcases the country’s capabilities in  IT and  HIMS services, such as pharma, research & life sciences (Clinical Trial Management, Pharmacy Support Services, Pharmacovigilance); health IT (EMR/EHR, big data analytics, Robotic Process Automation  (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)); provider & payor centric processes (Medical Coding, Medical Billing, Claims Processing/ Management); voice & non-voice support (Clinical Triage, Case Management, remote patient monitoring). 

At the helm of this global event is the  Department of Trade and Industry thru the  Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) led by its Head of Mission, Undersecretary   Rafaelita M. Aldaba, in partnership with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) headed by Director-General Tereso Panga and the   Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) represented by Director Emmy Lou Delfin, and its lead private sector partner, the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) represented by President, Mr. Vince Remo. The Mission would not have been a success without the excellent support of the  Philippine Trade and Investment Centers (PTIC) in Los Angeles and New York, led by Trade Commissioners Eric Elnar and Ben UY respectively and the Philippine Consulates in Texas, New York, and Chicago headed by Consul General Jerill G. Santos, Consul General Senen T. Mangalile and Consul General Jesusa Susana V. Paez respectively.

This year marks also the presence and support of industry associations, the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and Contact Center Associations of the Philippines (CCAP), represented by their Presidents Mr. Jack Madrid, and Mr. Butch Valenzuela.

“The HIMS sector is an excellent representation of the mutually reinforcing relationship between the United States and the Philippines, and we are committed to elevating and advocating the industry in the country in terms of partnerships. 

“The HIMS sector continues to embrace automation and digital transformation with a strong focus on innovation. Adopting new technologies like AI, the sector has been shifting to higher value services and improving customer experience,” DTI’s Undersecretary for Competitiveness Innovation Group, Rafaelita Aldaba said during a business forum in the USA.

Behind the success of this mission was the participation of the 18 HIMS companies, represented by 35 delegates, who actively showcased their world-class solutions towards customer and patient excellence namely: ADEC Innovations, Advanced World Solutions Inc., Connext Global Solutions, Carelon Global Solutions, Dynaquest Technology Services, HYBrain, Inspiro, JBW Managed Services Consulting, Medcode Inc., Medstar, Microsourcing, Pointwest Technologies Corp., Robinsons Land Corp., Office Symmetry, Teleperformance, Trends and Concepts, Visaya KPO, and Viventis Search Asia.

The Mission actively participated in activities such as business fora, networking, B2B, facility visits to health care facilities and relevant organizations, learning sessions covering the States of Texas, New York, and Chicago to promote the PH HIMS and met with organizations namely: Geekdom, Tech Port San Antonio, VelocityTX, University of Texas Health, Bellevue Hospital, The Plaza Rehabilitation, Business World Chicago, and Connectory Chicago and various business chambers in Texas, New York, and Chicago. The mission included a  conference on the Future of Health Care which is the pilot conference on health care held in Houston, Texas.

“The Philippines has proven, over time, its readiness and aggressive stance on exploring opportunities and collaborations to deliver quality healthcare information management services (HIMS) which gave birth to the flourishing HIMS sector” added Aldaba.
