The Negosyo Center Pagsanjan has pushed its tourist industry development campaign in conjunction with the DTI’s advocacy to establish more businesses in the countryside. One of the primary initiatives implemented by the Negosyo Center in Pagsanjan was to develop additional economic and employment prospects in the area, notably in the eco-tourist sectors.

A one-day SME Roving Academy (SMERA) Skills Training on How to Start a Business with Souvenir Item Making was organized on April 27, 2022, benefiting forty (40) aspiring tour guides who are all descendants of the United Boatman Association of Pagsanjan (UBAP), a local bangkero association. For the group’s vision of becoming a self-sufficient and productive organization, the Negosyo Center Pagsanjan, led by its Business Counselor Adrimar A. Adriano, chose to implement a SMERA Training for the group because all of the members are interested in promoting the local tourism industry in Pagsanjan and to create value-adding activities, a skills training is required.

Mr. Adrimar A. Adriano, Senior Business Counselor at Negosyo Center Pagsanjan, was engaged as one of the activity’s resource speakers. Mr. Adriano led the morning session on “How to Start a Business,” in which participants learned how to create a meaningful product for target customers, how to communicate with the target market, the importance of dealing with customers, creating personal branding, and using their skills and talents in business.

Mr. Tristan Tyrone Babaan, the proprietor of CloudJoy Arts and Crafts and previous KMME Mentee, DTI Laguna KMME Graduate-Batch 2018, delivered the afternoon workshop on Souvenir Item Making.

During an interactive session, Mr. Babaan exhibited his abilities and talents in manufacturing various souvenir items such as key chains, fridge magnets, paperweights, and other wooden goods. He also discusses the significance of using social media platforms and tools to advertise his items and promote his business. Facebook Account, Facebook Page, Instagram, and Shopee were among them. He also emphasized the need for having a mission and vision for a business by motivating the attendees with his business advocacies and completed projects.

The training was a success because of Mr. Adrimar A. Adriano and Mr. Tristan Tyrone Babaan, who were competent in instructing and motivating the attendees. They informed the participants about the resources they would be utilizing and how they would be used for the project.

The activity was made possible in close collaboration with Mayor Peter Casius M. Trinidad and his Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, Mrs. Francisca Mondez, and Municipal Tourism Officer, Arch. Mansley Kimhoko.
