SAN FERNANDO CITY, LA UNION – The Department of Trade and Industry Region 1 (DTI-Region 1) launched its 1st Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) in the region with 70 budding entrepreneurs participating in the program.

DTI Trade Chief Ramon M. Lopez and DTI Regional Operations Group (ROG) Undersecretary Blesila A. Lantayona graced the blended mode launching the program last 21 April 2021 and expressed their utmost support towards the development of young entrepreneurs in the region.

“To our youth, we encourage you to use technology and your creativity, apply it to entrepreneurship. Let us all help in building back a better world,” said the Trade Chief.

The participants attended series of modules that honed their business and management skills. Eleven (11) of them were chosen to present their business pitch to a pool of expert judges on 18 May 2021. The top 3 best business pitch winners received P10,000 worth of Start-Up Kits gift certificates while the other finalists received P5,000 worth of Start-Up Kits gift certificates.

YEP is a learning opportunity program that aims to capacitate young entrepreneurs to start and operate their business; connect them with the right network and partners; and expand their operations through business matching activities. ♦
